In 1997, when Josh Silvers, the Founder and President of Xcel Supply, was in his late twenties, he saw a need to bring distribution efficiencies to the health care industry. Through an overseas contact, he was able to make several valued connections and began negotiations to bring in his first container of gloves at competitive prices. When the container arrived, Josh drove around the Chicago area, selling his first shipment to nursing homes he still values today as clients.
Step by step, from that small beginning, he built Xcel Supply into a full-line distributorship, selling more than 10,000 products to the health care industry. Over the past few years, the company has developed a sales organization covering a number of Midwest areas, and has expanded into an ever-growing list of product categories and service programs, including medical supplies, housekeeping and environmental supplies, durable medical equipment, OTC medications, textiles, inventory management systems and Medicare Part B services.
